The Winter Solstice

If you do not know already today is the Winter Solstice. This simply means that it is the one day of the year by which we experience the shortest period of day light, so it will get dark outside alot earlier than usual. During this period the North pole, also known as the northern hemisphere, is (half of the earth that is north of the equator) tilted furthest away from the sun which is why we experience longer nights and much colder weather. Basically today is the first offical day of winter. As I have mentioned before, winter is my favourite time of the year and because I only have a couple of months left to enjoy it, I want to make the most of it by dedicating this post to my love for the season.
