Advice To My 16 Year Old Self

Being 16 was a funny age for me. I didn't know who I was and where I belonged in society and even now that is something that I am struggling with but I believe have learned a few things since and if I could go back and tell give myself some practical advice, I would say this:

Don't follow the crowd:

Be your own person. You have your own ideas, your own mindset so don't be afraid use it. Why copy an original? It just doesn't make any sense and you would only be hurting yourself at the end of the day. Spending money on clothes that you don't even like, listening to music that practically makes you heave, going to places that you have no interest in going to. It's not worth it, save yourself the headache.

Develop interests outside of school:
You don't have to confine your interest to the classroom (subjects, I mean. There are so many things that you can find enjoyment in outside of school, not that you really found school fun but you get what I mean.

Take your education seriously:
Education is a privilege that many people across the world do not have the privilege of having. Education can lead to the path of power, influence and knowledge, don't take it for granted.

Stop trying to make everyone like you:
Not everybody can be your friend. There will be people you dislike and there will be people who dislike you, just try not allow that to affect how you feel about yourself.

Love A x
